"My Name Is Tom" reviewed in Greece!
September 29, 2008
The Jigsaw Seen's 2006 reissue of "My Name Is Tom" was recently
reviewed by Spiros Pelekis in the Greek fanzine Rumble Skunk. Below is an
excerpt from the review:
"...They gigged around L.A., attracting the attention of the New
Jersey-based Skyclad Records, which released their amazing debut album,
“Shortcut Through Clown Alley”, in 1990. This was followed by a five-song
M.LP, “My Name Is Tom”, in 1991. This M.LP reissued by their own label
Vibro-Phonic Rec., for the first time on CD, in a great digi-pack-sleeve and
includes those five tracks: “Warehouse The Wicked”, “Black Aggie”,
“Persephone Again”, “The Daily Planet” (a fabulous cover of Love’s
psych-masterpiece), and “My Name Is Tom”! You can find also some unreleased
material like the killer instrumental “Murder At The Luau” (full of tremolo
and fuzz guitars), “I’m So Happy Today”, “Off Track”, a cover of
“The Best Is Yet To Come” (Coleman/Leigh), plus “Eight Lancashire Lads”,
which originally appeared on the LP compilation “Son Of A Witch”. Incredible
melodies, dreamy lyrics & Baroque atmosphere with lots of 6 and 12-string
acoustic-electric guitars, as well fuzz-guitars here and there, strong
bass-lines, up-drum-beat rhythms packed with mellotron, piano, tablas,
percussion, mandola, clave, and of course the coolest-Baroque vocals of Dennis
Davison with his permanent-personal trademark made this CD an awesome ethereal
psychedelic-pop release!!! "

albums.
The first, "Bananas Foster", is the band's long-awaited new collection
of art-pop consisting of 11 songs including "David Hart's Name Of
Song" which the band originally performed in the cult classic documentary
"Public Access Hollywood". Jonathan Lea, inspired by "The White
Album", "Goat's Head Soup" and "The Velvet Underground &
Nico", has designed an elaborate package for the album featuring
commissioned paintings by Mark Longo and prog art specialist Tony Velasquez.
After months of mixing, the album was mastered last week by Dave Schultz at
Digiprep in Los Angeles.
Vibro-phonic is currently arranging worldwide distribution and will announce a
release date soon.
The second album, "The Jigsaw Seen For The Discriminating
Completist" is a download only release featuring 10 rare tracks (including
the band's debut single "Jim Is The Devil") and 2 previously
unreleased tracks. This release will be available at iTunes this autumn.
