Christmas Behind Me

Music and Lyric by Dennis Davison

Id take the time to tell my tale

but Id be worried that Id fail

to adequately make a case for leaving

I could have stayed in Winterland

and not have sprung for sea and sand

a life half lived would not be worth retrieving

Sleigh rides swapped for sanity

and certainty for mystery

Evergreens for tall palm trees

It was more than a simple change of scenery

I fled the flood for higher ground

and got distracted by the sound

of what I thought were angels singing softly

But thats the last mistake I made

Id be a memory if Id stayed

My hand was forced and I put Christmas behind me
